‘Crony’ reflects the irony of stripping away nature, constructing buildings in its place, and then nurturing a flower—a fragment of nature—in a vase within those very structures. Inspired by the crane, a machine that transports construction materials at building sites, I designed the vase’s form to resemble this tool. By staging the crane as if it were gently carrying a flower symbolizing nature, I aimed to express the need for development that coexists with nature rather than destroys it.
Have we made space elsewhere to compensate for the nature we’ve consumed? How has the memory of nature shifted for each of us?
